Man Intentionally Set Fire to Gas Station and Waits for Police

A man walked into a Bay Minette gas station Monday and for unknown reasons set his t-shirt on fire and then put the burning clothing on top of some chips inside the store and calmly walked out of the business to wait for the police.

According to Bay minette Police Chief Al Tolbert, Palmer was standing there when police arrived.

Bay Minette Fire Chief Mike Minchew said his department arrived quickly but there was major damage inside the store.

Police arrested Palmer and transported him to the Baldwin County Detention Center where he is being held on no bond facing charges of:

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia                             

Possession of Marijuana Second Degree      

Arson First Degree

3 Counts of Reckless Endangerment

Palmer is scheduled for a bond hearing.
