MOBILE Ala.

On Saturday, June 7, 2025, at approximately 9:43 p.m., officers initiated a traffic stop in the 6000 block of Old Pascagoula Road for an equipment violation.

Upon speaking with the two individuals inside of the vehicle, it was discovered neither occupant had a current driver’s license.

While officers waited on their identifying information, the two subjects were removed from the vehicle and asked to sit in the back of patrol units without restraints.

One of the passengers of the vehicle began having a medical episode in the back of the patrol unit, at which time medical assistance was requested.

Theodore-Dawes Fire-Rescue arrived on scene with Mobile County EMS and began medical treatment immediately.
However, those efforts were unsuccessful once medical arrived.

The individual, identified as Kevin Gardner, 33, was pronounced deceased a short time later on scene.

This remains an active investigation, and no further information is available.
