Mount Vernon, Ala. The circumstances surrounding a Newman’s ambulance that collided with a bicyclist continues to remain unanswered even though numerous media outlets including Blue RAM Media have asked for more details.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency did confirm the fatality and stated that it occurred on October 5th, 2026, near East Coy Smith Highway in Mount Vernon but that’s where the details have ended.
Our reporter was told that no other information would be released until their accident investigation was completed and then a news release would be sent to area media.
However, that has not happened yet.
The name of the deceased, the name of the driver behind the wheel of the ambulance, and the circumstances surrounding the cause of the wreck are all unknown.
A spokesperson for Newman’s Ambulance also told our report that they had no comment.
According to a recently retired law enforcement officer who specialized in accident investigations, he said that this could indicate that the case was sent to the district attorney and that it could be presented to a grand jury. He also told us that in sensitive cases, no information is released publicly until an indictment has been handed down and sometimes it’s a sealed indictment, meaning that it is kept confidential and hidden from public view to protect the investigation, prevent the suspect from fleeing, or avoid the destruction of evidence.
