A few weeks ago, there were rumors that former Police Chief Paul Prine might run for the Mobile Mayor’s office.
On Tuesday, Prine made it official at 9:30 a.m. at Mobile Government Plaza.

Prine, who was terminated last year as Mobile’s police chief, put that behind him Tuesday as he forged ahead with his next chapter.
Prine did not want to dwell on what happened to him while he was Mobile’s Police Chief.
A lawsuit that he filed against the city and several current or former city employees is still pending.

A news release lists three pillars for Prine’s campaign:

Safety First – Committed to reducing crime and enhancing public safety.

Career Development– Focused on equipping high school students with workforce-oriented education and training opportunities.

Economic Growth – Aiming to streamline government services, cultivate a business-friendly environment, and address homelessness.

Mr. Prine said that government transparency and accountability is the most important aspect of holding office and that he believes that public officials must be held responsible to the citizens they serve.

Currently, there are six others who have joined the race to become Mobile’s next mayor.
