Two Charged With Rock Creek Vehicle Burglaries

FAIRHOPE, Ala.

A rash of car break-ins in the Rock Creek neighborhood of Fairhope early Tuesday morning ended with the arrest of two men the Fairhope Police announced this week.

According to the Fairhope Police Department, a resident of North Circle in the Rock Creek neighborhood confronted someone attempting to break into his car and called the police around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Several police officers responded to the area, but the men had left the scene before the officer’s arrival.

The resident gave officers a description of the suspect and the vehicle and soon, another officer on patrol spotted the vehicle used in the crimes and conducted a traffic stop on it.

During questioning, police found stolen items from North Circle, Sandstone Court, and Sandy Shoal Loop break-ins, and officers also discovered illegal drugs.

Fairhope police have charged 20-year-old Samuel Bradford Carter with two counts of breaking and entering a vehicle, receiving stolen property (which was a firearm), and possession of a controlled substance.

18-year-old Blaine Alexander Rawden has been charged with receiving stolen property and possession of marijuana.

Both were booked into jail and have since bonded out with a court date.

Fire Breaks Out Overnight at Fairhope Restaurant

FAIRHOPE Ala.

A fire at a Fairhope Restaurant sent firefighters from several local fire departments
to Scenic Highway 98 during the overnight hours.

The Supper Club which is located at 19344 Scenic Highway 98 was showing smoke and flames when the first firefighters arrived on scene.

Mutual-aid fire departments from Daphne, Magnolia Springs, and Barnwell VFD along with Medstar responded to the fire.

The fire was brought under control but rekindled Monday morning at 7:45 a.m. sending firefighters back to the restaurant.

At this time there’s no report as to what caused the fire or what the damage amount was.

There were no reports of injuries.

Fairhope Gas Leak Repaired Quickly

FAIRHOPE Ala.

A resident on Sage Avenue heard a noise outside of her home Sunday morning and decided to seek out the source.

Upon looking a bit closer, the resident heard a noise near her home and spotted what she believed to be a gas leak.

A call to 911 at 10:50 a.m. followed and both the Fairhope Police and the fire department responded to the call at 128 Sage Avenue.
What they found is exactly what was reported. A gas leak.

Fairhope Utility Services were notified as firefighters stood by just in case something else was to happen and thankfully, it didn’t.

There were no reports of an evacuation in the area and the utility company was able to repair this issue a short time later.

451,000 gallons of Sanitary Sewer Overflow Escapes Into The Mobile Bay

FAIRHOPE, Ala.

Fairhope Mayor Sherry Sullivan said that than 451,000 gallons of Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSOs) from a treatment place in Fairhope today, escaped due to an overflow at a manhole at the wastewater treatment plant.

Mayor Sullivan stressed that this was not a sewage spill. The overflow contained fully treated effluent, she said.

According to the Alabama Department of Environment Management said that the spill occurred from just before 8 a.m. to just after 1 p.m.

The spill entered a storm drain that empties into Mobile Bay, according to ADEM.

Fairhope Reports That Over 2,000 Gallons of Sewage Has Spilled

FAIRHOPE, Ala. July 4, 2024 The City of Fairhope announced on Wednesday a sewage spill occurred.

According to a release from the Fairhope Water and Wastewater Department, 2,300 gallons spilled during inclement weather in which the city experienced 4 inches of rain in an hour at Valley Lift station at Dogwood Avenue and Middle Street.

A vacuum truck contained and cleaned up the 2,300 gallons.

Fairhope officials said no waterways were involved.

The site was cleaned and disinfected with signs placed.
