Employee Seriously Injured at Summerdale Business

SUMMERDALE Ala.
An employee of a local business was seriously injured Monday and emergency personnel rushed to the Wynn Road business just after 3 p.m.
Firefighters and an ambulance crew responded to Gulf South Metals after receiving a 911 call that an employee had partially severed a hand.
Medics on-scene called for the assistance of a medical helicopter to transport the person to a trauma hospital due to the extent of the injury.
We do not yet know how the accident occurred or the current condition of the employee.
A person familiar with this small business stated that people were upset. In these types of serious workplace injuries, both state and federal agencies including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration will sometimes do an investigation to determine how the employee was injured and if there were any safety violations.
