Daphne Police Make 7 DUI Arrests Over Holiday Weekend

DAPHNE Ala. Police officers patrolling the streets of Daphne over the long holiday weekend were able to stop impaired drivers from hurting themselves or others by making seven arrests for Driving Under the Influence.
On Saturday, May 24, 2025, police conducted a traffic stop on Nicholas Anthony Torrans at around 1:51 a.m. for a moving violation in the area of the 2000 block of US Hwy 98.
At that time, police were able to determine that Torrans was driving impaired and charged him with Driving Under the Influence. He was transported and booked into the Daphne City Jail.
Also on Saturday, police observed a traffic infraction near the WJ Carroll Intermediate School in the 1000 block of Main Street and stopped the driver identified as Devin Kenneth Merriweather at around 9:03 p.m.
Merriweather was also found to be driving impaired and placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and transported to the city jail.
While patrolling near Main Street at around midnight, a Daphne officer also observed a vehicle committing a traffic infraction and stopped the driver, identified as Jackson Bradley Hatcher on May 24, 2025.
After the officer conducted his investigation, Hatcher was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and booked into the city jail.
Officers also conducted a traffic violation stop on William Ronald Hinote on Interstate 10 near the Eastbound exit on May 25th, 2025, after observing a moving violation.
Hinote was also charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and taken to the Daphne jail.
Daphne police also arrested Charles Lavante Morrissette for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol at US Highway 98 and Van Ave. and Frederick Taejon Di’Quese Bush for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.
While patrolling the area of the Bayfront Park on May 26th, 2025, at 1:15 a.m., officers found Chelsey Lynn Ramer operating a motor vehicle and stopped the driver because she was in the park after hours. Officers determined that she was operating the vehicle was impaired and she was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.
Daphne Police Chief Brian Gulsby stated to us that his officers were “doing what they do”, enforcing the laws and keeping the citizens of Daphne safe.
