A little white historical building sitting at 25500 County Road 54 West just outside the Daphne city limits in the Belforest Community has been the site of weddings, parties, community meetings and much more over the years.

The Belforest Community Center, once a school, is struggling now to stay alive as the building shows its age and needs some repairs.

Community residents and the Belforest Civic League say the Civic Center is the last original commercial building in Belforest near Daphne. It’s a link to the past they don’t want to see broken.

The building means a lot to some area residents who have grown up here and remember the depression-era building fondly.

Belforest Civic League President Stephanie Foster Middleton said the building isn’t falling down, but it does need some work, especially on the inside where part of the ceiling is crumbling, the walls bearing their age and it needs some upgrades.
It’s our hope that after some renovations, that we can make it a nice meeting space for many different types of events.

But driving around the area, you can see the development, subdivisions, and the city of Daphne moving further into the community though nearby farms seem to be hanging on as well.
