As heavy rains fell across Baldwin County Sunday afternoon and into the late night, many roadways, and several residential subdivisions began to flood.

Several streets had to be shut down completely until the water subsided and they were safe to drive on including AL-59, US Highway 31, Bromley Road, and others.

Firefighters across the county were called out repeatedly Sunday evening to conduct water rescues of drivers who crossed flooded roads and needed to be rescued.

Rescues were conducted in Spanish Fort, Daphne, Loxley, Stapleton, Bay Minette, and Perdido.

The Spanish Fort Fire Department was also called to the area of Tanager Lane where numerous homes had water flooding their homes.
Additional resources including a boat were brought into the area as the flooding continued and the water was rising.
Some residents opted to temporarily leave the area with the assistance of firefighters.
Several creeks flow to the rear of the subdivision and they crested their banks and began dumping water into the neighborhood.

During the height of the storm Sunday, a rural bridge in Perdido collapsed while a person was driving across it and it plunged below, injuring the driver.
Firefighters were able to rescue the driver and the person was transported to a nearby hospital.

In all, at least 25 persons were rescued from flooded vehicles or homes by area fire department personnel.
Three of those rescued received various injuries and were transported to area hospitals.
