Baldwin County Sheriff Huey ‘Hoss’ Mack Retiring After 17 years

The highest-ranking law enforcement officer in Baldwin County has announced that he is retiring from the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office after working there for seventeen years.
Huey ” Hoss” Mack, who has been sheriff since 2007 has made some changes to the department after taking over the position and will leave the department to take on a different leadership role with the Alabama Sheriff’s Association.
Mack started his career in law enforcement in 1985 as a Forensic Investigator with the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences. In 1989 he went to work with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. Mack was promoted to the rank of Captain over the Criminal Investigations Division and in 2006 he was elected Sheriff of Baldwin County AL
Mack has also served previously as the President of the Alabama Sheriff’s Association.
There’s no word from Sheriff Mack as to why he had decided to leave now.
Governor Kay Ivey will appoint the next Baldwin County Sheriff after Mack officially retires.
