Robertsdale Teacher Charged in Theft
ROBERTSDALE Ala.
A teacher now faces serious criminal charges after being accused of stealing credit and debit cards.
Dubravka Mazel Cengalovic allegedly used the stolen credit and debit cards at Walmart, a gas station and attempted to purchase an iPhone 15 and Apple Watch.
Police reported that a victim received a fraud alert from her credit union after someone had attempted a large purchase on her credit card and that’s when she realized that she had left her purse at Bird Dog’s Restaurant.
The theft victim, who has not been identified by law enforcement, notified police and they checked the security camera footage of the business.
Police were unable to identify the suspect so they posted photos of her and police soon learned that she was a Robertsdale Elementary School teacher.
Cengalovic has been an employee of the Baldwin County School System for 21 years and has spent the last 16 at Robertsdale Elementary.
She was booked into Baldwin County Jail this morning and has since been released on $26,000 bond.
The Baldwin County Public School System said Cengalovic has been placed on administrative leave.
