Police in Georgia search for driver who tied, dragged dogs behind vehicle

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. November 1, 2024

Police in Georgia are searching for a driver who dragged two dogs behind a car and left them in a parking lot, resulting in one dog’s death and another’s serious injury.

“We had a witness pretty shortly afterward who pulled into that parking lot and noticed the dogs and immediately called to report them,” said Claire Simms-Chaffins of the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office.

The incident occurred around 8 p.m. on September 13 and was captured on a security camera at the Redan Recreation Center off Phillips Road near Lithonia.

The video shows a car pulling into the parking lot with two dogs tied to the bumper.

The driver untied the dogs and drove off.
