New Name, New Tower, for Local Hospital

Foley’s South Baldwin Medical Center has a new addition and a new name!

The new medical tower that opened on Tuesday has a new surgical unit including an outpatient surgical center, an expanded intensive care unit, and up on the second floor, a women’s and children’s unit that will focus on the health of these patients.

CEO Margaret Roley also announced on Tuesday a new name for the hospital which is now called Baldwin Health.

“It’s a small town feel now with a big hospital that has a lot of services for the community,” Chief of Medical Staff Dr. Timothy Frerichs said.

Roley said patient care will not be lost in all the new technology.

“We care for the people in this community, the people you go to church with, the people you see in Walmart,” Roley said. “That is fundamentally who we are, and I hope that is what is seen in the care that we deliver here every day.”

As the community grows, so do the medical needs of our community members, and doctors and other medical professionals are being recruited to fill the new positions.

The hospital still needs to receive a final state approval and a certificate of occupancy.

After that, patients will be transferred into the new tower and a major renovation is then planned for the original part of the hospital.
