Mobile Man Charged With Brutally Attacking Girlfriend in Robertsdale

An assault and strangulation of a woman in a Robertsdale apartment, on February 2nd, 2025, has now led to an arrest.

Investigators said 26-year-old Wakeylon Briner allegedly broke into his girlfriend’s apartment in Robertsdale and attacked her including choking her.

According to Lieutenant Paul Overstreet, chief investigator for Robertsdale Police Department, he’s thankful a bystander called the police when they heard something.

“A neighbor contacted our department and advised us that she could hear what sounded like a domestic disturbance going on in one of the neighboring units,” said Overstreet. “It’s quite possible that situation could have escalated and the injuries, while we encountered them, the injuries we saw, we consider them to be severe.”

The Mobile man escaped out of a two-story window when police arrived at the apartment and avoided capture however he was arrested on February 25th on several outstanding arrest warrants.

Briner is charged with assault-domestic violence strangulation.

His bond is set at $20,000.
