Interstate 10 between Daphne and the Rosinton area was the scene of serious wrecks, medical emergencies, and fires on Thursday.

At approximately 5:45 a.m., a multiple-vehicle accident occurred eastbound near the 40-mile marker sending the Loxley Fire Department, police, and an ambulance to the area.
ALEA state troopers were also dispatched.

After sizing up the scene, law enforcement officers called for additional EMS, and a medical helicopter was also dispatched to the wreck.
That helicopter landed on the Interstate and transported one patient to a nearby facility.
Several other patients were also taken to area medical facilities by ground EMS units.

The Daphne Fire Department was also called to the area to assist in the incident.

Much of the Interstate in the Loxley area remained partially shut down for several hours.

Loxley firefighters along with police also responded at around 7:35 a.m. to another accident, this one was at US 90 @ Magnolia Street.
There were no reports of any serious injuries at the crash.

But before Loxley first responders could catch their breath, they were once again dispatched back to Interstate 10 just before 9 a.m. for another accident with injuries near mile marker 40 where there was a report of three vehicles involved in the crash and several people injured.
Along with the Loxley fire, EMS and a trooper also made their way back to Interstate 10.
And once again, these volunteer firefighters headed back to home base but not for long because you probably guessed it, they were called back to the Interstate. This time at around 11:45 a.m., 911 received calls of a brush fire near mile marker 44.

But less than an hour later, the Rosinton and Styx River Fire Departments were also both dispatched for a fire on Interstate 10 near mile marker 53 just before 1 p.m.

By this time, Loxley firefighters had a few hours to grab lunch and to rest and relax but not for long because there was still more work to do.

At just a few minutes after 2 p.m., once again the Loxley FD were sent back to Interstate 10 to look for a possible crash. An “Automatic Crash Notification signal was received by Baldwin County 911 Communications triggering the emergency dispatch. No wrecks or emergencies were found.

But the workday for the men and women of the Loxley Fire Department was still not over yet.

Once again, they would be called to respond to another emergency. This time it was a brush fire on Raynagua Blvd. shortly before 4:30 p.m. The fire was quickly extinguished, and the crew were once again on their way back to the fire station and possibly back home because these firefighters and most of their counterparts in Baldwin County, volunteer their time to protect their community.
