A large truck driving on Interstate 10 near mile marker 41 caught fire on Wednesday morning causing a traffic jam as emergency responders rerouted vehicles away from the fire.
Several people including the truck driver tried to use fire extinguishers to get the fire out but weren’t successful.
Loxley police and fire departments responded to the scene at around 11:39 a.m. as the fire grew and the traffic began to back up down I-10.
Police also reported an accident at the same location.
Once firefighters had the fire out, the trailer was eventually disconnected from the tractor and hauled away by a wrecker.
ALEA did not report any injuries.
The Interstate was partially shut down for almost two hours according to ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division.
