FAIRHOPE Ala. The Fairhope Police announced on Friday, May 30th, 2025, that they had concluded their investigation into what they have classified as an “unintentional” shooting of a teen female at a residence in a Rock Creek subdivision.
“Although the shooting has been classified as unintentional, the suspect’s reckless behavior resulted in injury to the victim, who is currently in stable condition at a Trauma Intensive Care Unit,” the statement said.
The female was shot in the neck.
Police said the boy, from Daphne, was among a dozen or more teens at a party in the 200 block of Rock Creek Parkway.
The 16-year-old has been arrested and charged with second-degree assault, which is a felony.
Investigators said the teen picked up a revolver, played with it, and pulled the trigger, hitting a 17-year-old girl in the neck.
The shot, reportedly fired just before 8 p.m., sent the rising Fairhope High School senior to University Hospital’s trauma ICU in Mobile.
Police have said no adults were present at the time of the shooting.
