The Daphne police were called to a report of a shooting at the Eastpointe Hospital, 7400 Roper Lane at around 4:10 p.m. on Saturday.

Once the scene was safe, the Daphne Fire Department and EMS also responded.

At this time there are not many details but we do know that the area was shut down for quite a while.

Eastpointe is an adult psychiatric hospital that opened in 2012.

In the past five years, there have been several incidents involving weapons and violence at the facility including suicidal situations.

Medstar and the Daphne Fire Department are called to the hospital frequently for medical emergencies and medical transfers.

We have made several inquiries and hope to learn more about the shooting in the coming days.
