DAPHNE, Ala. A shooting that occurred on April 29, 2025, at the 10X Audubon Apartments, located at 8150 County Road 64 in Daphne has now been confirmed by police to be a drug deal gone bad.

As reported by Blue RAM Media on the night of the shooting, drugs were clearly seen at the shooting scene, and it was rumored to have been a drug deal that resulted in the shooting.

Skylar Jemison, 18, is charged with two counts of attempted murder and two counts of robbery in the first degree.

“They arranged a meeting with the victims in order to purchase marijuana. They had no intent to pay for that marijuana, and when they produced their weapons, there was some resistance and gunfire,” said Daphne Police Chief Brian Gulsby.

Gulsby says the suspects arranged to buy four ounces of marijuana at $100 an ounce and used fake movie money to pay for the drugs. Gulsby says the suspects left the marijuana in the parked minivan after the shooting and stole one the victim’s pistol caliber carbine.
Gulsby also said that one of the shooting victims, 18-year-old Matthew Barnes, is also a Daphne High School student and is expected to have permanent paralysis. The other victim is 20-year-old Demond Walker, who police say was shot in the head. Walker lived at the apartment complex located on County Road 64.

“All four of these individuals are from the Pollard Road area,” said Gulsby.

Gulsby reported that when they identified the suspects last week, police contacted the United State Marshals Fugitive Task Force on Friday to help track them down.

The 16-year-old was arrested Monday at a home in Mobile and charged with two counts of robbery in the first degree. Jemison turned himself in on Monday.

Both suspects are being held at the Baldwin County Jail.
Gulsby says there is a third suspect who is expected to be arrested.
Police have not recovered any firearms.
