Daphne Animal Shelter Holds Grand Opening
DAPHNE, Ala.
With a fast-growing city comes many changes and one of those is how we manage animal control and care.
For several years, space has been tight at the animal shelter but that is now over with the cutting of the ribbon on the all-new state of the art facility.
The new animal shelter is bigger and more up to date and will allow animals to have a better quality of life.
Mayor of Daphne Robin LeJeune said that the new location, just off US 98 on 7145 Johnson Rd has been six years in the making.
Some of the upgrades include more comfortable floors and a better air infiltration system.
Mayor LeJeune says the city has seen a lot of growth, and the new shelter is just one part of the city’s expansion plan. He also encourages people to visit, adopt one of the many available animals and volunteer.
“This facility is made to invite people in,” Mayor LeJeune said. “We have a classroom right behind me, birthday parties, study groups, Boy Scouts, anything that you want because this is a community center. It’s not just an animal shelter.”
