Brush Fires Keep Firefighters Busy in Baldwin County

More than a dozen brush fires have been reported in just 72 hours and some of them were at the same location.

Numerous fire departments have responded to fires that were originally started by homeowners burning debris or trash and the fires have gotten away from them and burnt grass and wooded areas.

One of those fires on County Road 68 took firefighters several hours to extinguish but were called back several hours later when the fire rekindled and additionally caught several structures and vehicles on fire which required multiple fire departments to bring the blaze under control.

The Alabama Forestry Department has also been called in to assist area fire departments with digging a fireline around larger fires.

Fire officials are reminding residents that In Baldwin County, Alabama, vegetative or land-clearing burning is prohibited from May 1 to October 31
and that permits are required.
