Bayou La Batre Fires Police Officer Under Investigation For Sexual Misconduct
BAYOU LA BATRE, Ala.
A Bayou La Batre police officer who has been under investigation for having sexual contact with minors has now been fired.
Bayou La Batre Mayor Henry Barnes says William “BJ” Squires was terminated for conduct unbecoming of an officer and said it was not related to the search warrant the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office and Mobile County District Attorney’s Office executed at his midtown home on September 25th.
The mayor said that on Monday a pre-disciplinary hearing was held and that it was determined that the officer should be terminated immediately.
Barnes said the decision to terminate Squires was related to “another incident he admitted to” in an interview with DA’s office.
Squires had been on administrative leave after investigators searched his home.
The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office is continuing an investigation involving Squires.
