BALDWIN COUNTY Ala.
In just four days, area first responders have been dispatched to almost twenty motor vehicle accidents with injuries and nine other wrecks that resulted in no one being injured.
From Thursday April 17 through Sunday, April 20, 2025, police, firefighters and EMS services have responded to four vehicle rollovers, a six-vehicle pile-up, a vehicle crash into a building,
a car vs. bicyclist crash with critical injuries, and multiple accidents where people have been injured at all hours of the day and night.
Sometimes drivers have been speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol or narcotics, driving recklessly, or being inattentive, but many times, they’re victims of someone else’s conduct.
Traffic collisions in Baldwin County frequently occur at the same locations and regularly include injuries.
During the last four days, four drivers lost control of their vehicles and rolled over. In two of these crashes, people were entrapped and unable to get out until firefighters arrived and extradited them.
These accidents occurred:
Friday Morning 7:13 a.m. Pine Run Rd Daphne
Friday Morning 11:57 a.m. N Hickory St Loxley
Friday Night 11:45 p.m. US 31 Stapleton
Saturday Morning 3:25 a.m. Spanish fort Blvd Spanish Fort
During this same timeframe, at least six people involved in these wrecks were airlifted by medical helicopters to area trauma centers.
A rollover happens when a vehicle tips over or flips onto its side or roof.
Common causes include losing control, striking an obstacle, or turning too sharply.
Rollover accidents often lead to serious injuries due to the force of the impact and potential ejection of passengers. An increasing number of rollover accidents are resulting in fatalities.
Rollover accidents can be categorized as “tripped” (where a tire hits an object) or “untripped” (where the vehicle loses control without hitting an object).
During these four days:
Bicyclist was seriously injured after being hit by a car in Elberta
A driver was seriously injured after crashing into a building and was airlifted
A driver was airlifted after a crash in Bon Secour
Persons airlifted from crash in Belforest
Person airlifted from Daphne wreck
Injured person airlifted from Summerdale wreck
The growth in Baldwin County, inadequate roads, lack of police enforcement, a growing number of people driving under the influence, increased number of drivers without driver’s licenses, illegal immigrants driving, and reckless driving are all behind the reasons for the rise in traffic collisions with and without injuries.
It is up to the driver to be vigilant, drive defensively, and non-aggressively, be attentive and obey all traffic laws.
In part two of our investigation, we’ll disclose the hot spots where most accidents occur in Baldwin County.
