A man wanted for “Murder” in Escambia County Florida was arrested in Spanish Fort overnight police said.

Charles Jerome Carson-Dowdy is accused of fatally shooting and running over a 30-year-old woman on Thursday.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to the 9000 block of Baldridge Avenue regarding gunshots being fired and a disturbance on Thursday. They found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds.

She succumbed to her injuries after being taken to a hospital, the ECSO said.

Investigators said she had been shot and then run over by a vehicle multiple times and the perpetrator then fled.

Spanish Fort Police were on routine patrol when they spotted a vehicle with a flat tire near the boat ramp next to Ralph and Kacoos.  

Upon further investigation, Spanish Fort Police discovered that he was wanted in Florida on a homicide warrant.

SFPD officers took him into custody without incident.
