Fairhope Man Arrested on Child Porn Charges

On Monday, January 27, 2025, Investigators with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at the home of 66-year-old Kenneth Greer of Fairhope, Alabama.

This search warrant was the result of an inquiry that led investigators to believe that Greer was in possession of child pornography and had shared child pornography with others. During an interview, Greer admitted to possessing child sexual abusive material. Greer has been linked to over 3,500 images of child sexual abuse material by investigators. Greer was charged and arrested for four counts of possession of obscene matter containing visual depiction of persons under 17 years of age involved in obscene acts, in violation of Alabama Code 13A-12-192(b).

This investigation was a collaborative effort between the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, the Fairhope Police Department, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency ICAC Task Force,

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and the Department of Homeland Security Mobile Field Office. Our cooperation with other law enforcement agencies is the most effective weapon in our fight to keep our communities safe and we thank our partners for their continued support.

Local Schools Preparing for Upcoming Inclement Weather

As we keep an eye on the incoming artic air, and cold temperatures that could bring sleet, freezing rain and in some areas, a touch of snow, school systems in our area are also preparing.

The temperatures will be frigid, so dressing the kiddos in layers is very important and be prepared if schools cancel early.

Tuesday appears to be the day of participation ranging from sleet to snow, and school decision makers may decide to cancel school overnight Monday or very early Tuesday morning meaning parents will need a backup plan for everything from where the children will stay, who will watch them and yes, who will chauffeur them from point A to point B.

Baldwin County schools announced late last week that they were already for potential closures as colder weather approaches next week:

According to school Superintendent, Eddie Tyler, IF there is snow or freezing rain predicted overnight any day during the week, then it is likely we will close schools. Icy roads and bridges in the early morning hours are very dangerous to our bus operations.
Tyler stated that he was not making any decisions, but he wanted families to know his thinking in advance when it comes to the safety of the children.

I know our kids would love to have a day off from school, but there is the possibility this system will leave us with just some cold air. If we close schools though, we will be in good company as northern Alabama has already been dealing with school closures from snow, Tyler stated.

Monday, January 20th, school will be closed in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

North Baldwin County Fire Destroys Several Structures

BALDWIN COUNTY Ala.

A fast-moving fire Saturday afternoon on Dean Cemetery Rd destroyed several structures and lit the woods on fire in the northern part of the county.
The first arriving firefighters reported that one structure was fully engulfed and that a second structure was also burning as was the wooded area on the property.

Firefighters and apparatus were called in from multiple departments around the area at 1:14 p.m. Additional requests were also made for tanker trucks since the rural area does not have many hydrants.

Another concern for firefighters was a report that there was that a 40-gallon propane tank was inside a shed that was on fire.

It took a while, but firefighters brought the fire under control and spent several hours making sure that the fire was totally out.

There were no reported injuries.

Is Maple Street Biscuit Company Coming to Daphne?

DAPHNE Ala.

It’s been rumored for at least a few months that a Maple Street Biscuit Company was coming to Daphne.
Now, it appears that might be the case.
The company, which already has a Mobile location was purchased by Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, Inc. in an all-cash transaction for $36 million in 2019 and has over 40 locations with a mix of company-owned and franchised locations.
The Daphne location is said to be opening up on US 90.
We’ve heard that have some mighty fine food and great biscuits too!
